Literacy rates amongst men and women in Malawi run at 72% and 49% respectively. Yet illiteracy proves a fundamental block to an individual operating in an form of commercial or democratic environment. An illiterate and innumerate individual operates in many ways like a blind person, reliant on the benevolence of those around them to guide them; and at the mercy of the unscrupulous. Practical The training is not simply generic, but is based on everyday needs and situations, with particular focus on commercial activity. For example, farmers are trained to read tobacco sellers sheets, bank documents and how to add up invoices and calculate prices. | Fees Our fees are charged based on the particular course being offered or the type of consultancy being requested. For more information on this, please go to contacts and get in touch. | A Major Boost for Women NASFAM commenced Adult Literacy / Numeracy training in 2001 under support from DANIDA, and more latterly, NORAD. Since that date over 20,000 individuals have successfully graduated, the vast majority of whom have been women. The much lower female literacy rates provide a major constraint on the advancement of women. | Contact Please feel free to contact us for more information on the NASFAM Training and Development Institute.
