For the fourth consecutive year, and eight in total, NASFAM has been named the best agro-processor during the 2018 National Agriculture Fair (NAF) which took place from 12th to 15th September, at the Chichiri Trade Fair Grounds. The award is given to outstanding organizations and individuals who have committed their efforts to value addition activities as way of widening the market outlet for agricultural produce.
The chief Executive Officer (CEO) for NASFAM, expressed delight for the recognition.
“Each and every year, we are looking at ways of improving our business. We already have the best products on the market such as the whole grain NASFAM Kilombero Rice, the raw FarmaNuts, the oven roasted NasNuts, Zikometso Chilli, beans, and other products produced by our member associations.
“This year we have added some two more exciting products in line with our growth strategy. We have introduced NasPorridge (the medium broken Kilombero Rice), which is already on the market; and we are in the process of introducing Nsijiro (groundnut flour) to satisfy our customers’ needs,” said Dr. Betty Chinyamunyamu, the CEO for NASFAM.
“As a farmer organization, we believe in quality at all levels, starting from the field until the product gets to the shelf in super markets and other shops, local and international. We are motivated by the desire to see smallholder farmers make more money from their farming business. Such initiatives therefore help us fulfil that need. This recognition therefore simply affirms what we are committed to as an organization, to be the market leader when it comes to agro-processing,” added Chinyamunyamu.
This year’s National Agriculture Fair was held under the theme: Access to Finance, Value Addition and Markets: Key to Agri-based Industrialization.
